Description
This database (LCDB2) is a thematic classification of 43 land cover and land use classes. The polygon features contain a code and boundary representing the land cover type for the period Summer 1996 / 97 and Summer 2001 / 02.
There is also a version available for the Chatham Islands.

Version history
Version 1 - Imported on June 25, 2009 from Shapefile 'LCDB2' in NZGD2000 / New Zealand Transverse Mercator 2000. No errors encountered.

Great open data layer to supplement the topographic vegetation. Perhaps we could all do our own "fieldwork" and feed back areas that need reclassification in version 3? Note that Agriquality staff travelled over 60,000 km checking version 2.
Here is my first fieldcheck for LCDB3: Polygon 83256 (173 39.8444 -35 13.6531 ) lcdb2 class 65 (Pine Forest - Open Canopy) should be 67 (Other Exotic Forest) because it is a mature stand of Macrocarpa and other trees. Photo available.
