This data set shows the names and locations of disposal facilities in New Zealand. It includes disposal facilities as defined by the Waste Minimisation Act 2009 and registered with the Ministry for the Environment for the purpose of paying a waste disposal levy. The Chatham Island locations are estimated.
A disposal facility is defined as a facility at which waste (including house-hold waste) is disposed of and that operates, at least in part, as a business to dispose of waste.
