Can't seem to get the photos downloaded from the internet, as advertised ...
I came to this site from Stuff.co.nz but I get the following message when I try to access the photos
"Results from this layer are currently unavailable. This may be because:
the layer was recently created or updated
the layer is only available to commercial licencees
you do not have access rights for the layer"
I am an ex-pat Kiwi VERY interested in my favorite city- how do I access this data??
You'll need to use the Crop tool to reduce the size of the imagery to beneath 1.5GB before you can download it. At present anything over 1.5GB must be couriered.
Hi John - we'll contact you directly via email about your issue.
I've been trying too. I can only see a purchase option available and the download option is greyed out. What's going on?
Guys...all you do is hit the "Add" button on the right and you will start to see the imagery appear on the map. It's streaming data so depending on the speed of your internet connection, it may take a little while to load. Plus these are quite high resolution images which slows things down a bit also. Once loaded, just use the zoom and pan functions inside the map or simply use the scroll wheel and left button on your mouse. Hope this helps
Want to see this data in a faster map - try here:
This site is very fast. Much easier to use.
Even simpler: tinyurl.com/CHCEQIMG
Same issue here
If you're referring to downloading 8GB of imagery:
Try using the Crop tool next to the Download button to reduce the size of the download below 1.5GB. At present anything over 1.5GB must be couriered for a variety of technical reasons.
Still a problem with this, despite saying the download is free I am still led through a payment page. Can you please sort this out.
Hi J B,
You can't download the entire dataset, at 8GB that's fair enough and most people don't need that much. If you just want your own house or a particular area, zoom into that area first then choose the Crop tool and highlight the section you want. If the area you want is small enough (the limit appears to be 75MB) then when you click on the Download/Order button you will get the Download option.
There is a possible bug with Google Chrome and the download process, which can force you into the DVD courier (payment required) route regardless of other choices you make. We're aiming to fix this early on Monday.
Otherwise, as John Layt and others note, you need to use the Crop tool to make your download smaller than 1.5GB in size to download it for free via your web browser.
Seems to be more than Chrome affected. I get this behaviour on IE8 and Firefox 3x.
As John Layt commented, it automatically sets DVD delivery for data extracts greater than 50-100MB. So what's about a 1.5GB limit?
We'll contact you directly to get more information on your situation.
The above issue was resolved today; if you continue to get this problem please contact Koordinates Support.
This is amazing. Thanks for posting this, and thanks for making it freely available. I have 3 Schools as clients in Christchurch and they will all be very grateful to have this new imagery available.
hiya Ed, ported this to Microsoft Flight Sim X, looks amazing, heartfelt thoughts to all those in Christchurch.
Hi I can't get the crop tool to work today. Anyone got any ideas. If I choose crop and then try and draw a box it just turns into the hand symbol and moves the photo. If I try download it makes everything translucent and freezes.
We'll look into it as soon as possible.
Have found that the cropping works fine on
XP Pro 5.1.2600 SP3 build 2600
IE 8.0.6001 18702
But not on
Win7 Pro 6.17601 SP1 Build 7601
IE 9.0.8112.16421 Upd version 9.0.4 64 bit or 32 bit
Clicking on the crop button, brings up the hint box at bottom of screen about drawing a box, but fails to change the cursor from a hand to cross hairs.
So I have got what I need via my XP machine.
We've resolved this issue, which only impacted IE9. Can you try again?
Working well now. Thanks for resolving this issue.
Do you know anyone who has photos of just a little bit more of the waimakariri river near McLeans Island(about 300m more), continuing on from what photos are there?
You could try asking LINZ - email@example.com
