Texas General Land Office

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) was first used at the General Land Office in 1988 for surveying state lands and for legislative redistricting. Since then, GIS functions have expanded to include supporting lease sales, oil spill response, stewardship of coastal resources, land surveying and other business functions of the land office.
