Kart Spatial filtering

Our latest Kart release completes a major new feature for spatial filtering repositories, allowing users to to reduce the volume of data they download whilst focusing on a user defined area of interest. Edits can then be merged back into the parent dataset.

Kart provides repository working copies as GIS databases and files. Using Kart, you can directly edit in common GIS software... without plugins. You choose the format.

Kart stores geospatial and tabular data in Git-like repositories, providing version control at the row and cell level, as well as tracking changes to schema and metadata.. It uses standard Git repositories and Git-like CLI commands. If you know Git, you’ll feel right at home.

This update focuses on spatial filtering, and sees improvements in repository request and response times, as well as archival accuracy and metadata control.

Have a look at how Kart version control can change the way you work with managing data

QGIS Kart Plugin

A Kart plugin for QGIS will be available from the QGIS Plugin Manager by 21 Dec 2022. This powerful plugin adds support for version control of vector datasets within QGIS, including:

  • Repository creation and dataset addition
