We're looking for a Product Designer
We're looking for a Product Designer to help us transform how our customers publish and use geospatial data.
Koordinates is an established platform for publishing, managing, and accessing geospatial data. We’re looking for a Wellington-based designer to dive deep into an interesting and rapidly evolving field and help us transform how our customers publish and use geospatial data.
You’ll start off as one of two designers, so you’ll need to be a good design generalist who’s happy looking at the big picture, as well as the nitty-gritty details. It’s a challenging, enjoyable, and satisfying role.
What you’ll do:
Talk to customers and understand how and why they use the product.
Feed what you learn into design artefacts like written arguments, user flows, wireframes, working prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups and use them to sell your ideas back to the team.
Work with engineers to shepherd and adapt your design through the development process.
Contribute to our marketing design efforts, including working on brochures, the marketing website, and designing other collateral as needed.
Contribute to our internal design processes and tools, and help maintain and improve Koordinates UI, our design pattern library.
Understand how user-facing parts of the product are performing (or not) and identify areas for meaningful iteration and improvement.
Who we’re looking for:
You’ve been involved in shipping some great work, and you can show it to us and speak well about your role in bringing it into the world.
You can turn your hand to a variety of different design skills, including listening and talking, sketching, pushing pixels, prototyping, collateral, and even cutting code.
You’re inquisitive and excited to learn about a complex product and industry on the job.
You’re a good listener, thoughtful and articulate, with a positive attitude and respect for your peers.
You’ve had meaningful experience in a product company or digital agency and have well-earned opinions about how to design things.
You’ll be rewarded with:
Good work/life balance and a flexible working environment. We all leave the office on time. Many people work from home once or twice a week.
Competitive remuneration, depending on your level of experience and what you can bring to the role.
A nice office, located on the Wellington waterfront.
A healthily collaborative work environment. If you can state your case clearly and you’ve done your homework, you’ll be heard and appreciated.
A culture that respects and values design and craft. We ship your work regularly. It feels good.
Koordinates is a great place to work. Our team is friendly, energetic and committed to making it easier to publish and access geospatial data. We are situated over three locations and two time zones so we’re used to working in a distributed and flexible environment.
We’re proud to build an award-winning platform and we're expanding to introduce our product to the world. As an experienced designer, you will be ideally placed to shape your career and share in our success.
