We’re looking for a Wellington-based intermediate-to-senior Front End Developer to work on our revolutionary platform and app for managing and publishing version controlled map data.

You’ll be working on a greenfield project to relaunch Koordinates and open source maps to the public, at scale, worldwide.

You'll be working in an experienced front-end team of four, within a small fast-moving tight-knit company with an ambitious roadmap. Our ideal candidate will tackle projects with flexibility and focus, while incorporating the views of others and exercising appropriate judgement. Koordinates is highly collaborative and you’ll be working directly with our Head of Design, Product Manager and experienced front-end team.

You’ll have three or more years experience building solid, easy to maintain, React-based web applications—or equivalent—and be familiar with using and contributing to component libraries. CMS experience would be advantageous, but is not a hard requirement. You will be comfortable working on a day-to-day basis with a senior designer and proactively resolve minor UX design issues in tune with the agreed design. No experience with mapping is necessary.

Koordinates vision is to introduce tech and collaboration approaches from software development into the slow-moving world of map authoring. Our team is friendly, frank, focussed, and distributed across three cities (Wellington, Auckland, Edinburgh). We have a genuinely flexible work environment, and one week of parental leave and stock options are available.

Koordinates runs a modern front end design & development process built on top of an API-first containerised platform (dev and prod). We ship code and platform changes daily, and ship FED product as quickly as possible. Our continuous integration systems ensure that our build & test processes happen on every push to GitHub, and passing builds are a single click to deploy.

If this role has twigged your interest, get in touch to be involved in something genuinely revolutionary for the mapping world.

Applicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.
