The federal NO2, SO2, CO designations layer is a polygon coverage providing area designations as per 40CFR81.305. There are three designation categories: nonattainment, unclassifiable and attainment areas.
Designation areas are defined pursuant to the corresponding federal national ambient air quality standard for each pollutant as per the Clean Air Act.
This data layer is from The California Air Resources board and is current as of November 2003.
