Inland extent of areas subject to regulation under the Texas Coastal Management Program.

Generally, the Texas Coastal Zone Boundary encompasses the area within Texas lying seaward of the coastal facility designation line. It also includes coastal wetlands landward of the coastal facility designation line. The boundary includes areas within the following Texas counties: Cameron, Willacy, Kenedy, Kleberg, Nueces, San Patricio, Aransas, Refugio, Calhoun, Victoria, Jackson, Matagorda, Brazoria, Galveston, Harris, Chambers, Jefferson, and Orange. The seaward reach of the boundary extends into the Gulf of Mexico to the limit of state title and ownership under the Submerged Lands Act (43 United States Code 1301 et seq.), or three marine leagues. For a more detailed description, see the Texas Coastal Management Program: Final Environmental Impact Statement or contact the Texas General Land Office, Coastal Division, 1-800-85-BEACH or (512) 463-5385. Coastal Management Program boundary Coastal Zone Boundary Texas Coast The Coastal Zone Boundary delineates the coastal zone as adopted by the State of Texas, Coastal Coordination Council. The description of the Coastal Zone Boundary was published in the "Texas Register" and in the "Texas Coastal Management Program: Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS)"; the description referred to highways that form the boundary and streams that may also be tidally influenced (selected streams and 100 yards landward on either side of the stream banks). The highway arcs were extracted from the USGS 1:24,000 Roads and Trails layer. Arcs for the streams of extended tidal influence/impact potential were extracted from USGS 1:24,000 (where available) and USGS 1:100,000 hydrography data, and the stream arcs were BUFFERed in ARC/INFO with a 300-foot increment. The buffer arcs and the highways make up this polygon coverage. This coverage may be revised to incorporate the more accurate highway network from the Texas Dept. of Transportation and hydrography data which is now available. The Coastal Zone Boundary was legislatively amended in May 1997 to remove Liberty County from the coastal zone

Bathymetric data for Texas bays and offshore waters. Locations generated from latitude/ longitude coordinates provided by NOAA. Data may not be current and are not to be used for navigation.

Locations of bathymetric values generated by GLO personnel from coordinate data provided by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

Point locations were generated from coordinate data given in ASCII format. Some points have been eliminated to facilitate cartographic display and may not adequately depict underwater features. Occasional points may have erroneous depth values. The bathymetry of some bay and nearshore areas has changed significantly since the source data were collected.
